4 High Profile Visits Spark Political Buzz in Chhattisgarh

The political atmosphere in Chhattisgarh is set to become highly active in the next 10 days. Four major high-profile visits are scheduled between October 22 and November 1, which have created a buzz in both the ruling party and the opposition. From President Droupadi Murmu to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, and BJP's new state in-charge Smriti Irani - all will be in Chhattisgarh. Political analysts are calling it a trailer for the 2028 Assembly elections.
1. President Droupadi Murmu's Visit - Bastar Dussehra Gets National Recognition
President Droupadi Murmu will be on a two-day visit to Chhattisgarh on October 22 and 23. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai confirmed that the President has accepted his invitation to attend the historic Muria Darbar of Bastar Dussehra.
On October 23, the President will participate in the world-famous Bastar Dussehra festival in Jagdalpur, where she will witness the traditional Darbar of the Muria tribe. This will be the first time the President of India will be part of this tribal tradition.
During her visit, she will also release a commemorative coin of Rs 200 and a postal stamp in Raipur. She is also expected to meet representatives of various tribal communities. The visit is being seen as a major step to give national recognition to tribal culture. In Chhattisgarh, the tribal population is around 32%, and this vote bank will be decisive in the 2028 elections.
2. RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat's Visit - Boost to Organization
The visit of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat is also considered very important. He will attend several programs in Bilaspur and Raipur. According to sources, Bhagwat will meet RSS pracharaks, intellectuals, and members of various social organizations.
This visit is part of the strategy to strengthen the organization at the booth level before the 2028 elections. The RSS has a very strong network in Chhattisgarh and has played a key role in the BJP's victories. Several important organizational decisions are expected after this visit.
3. Smriti Irani's First Mission - Strategy for 2028
The most discussed visit is that of Smriti Irani.
She was recently appointed as the BJP in-charge for Chhattisgarh by the party high command. This will be her first visit after taking charge, on October 25. She will stay in Raipur for two days and hold marathon meetings at Kushabhau Thakre Parisar, the BJP state headquarters.
On the first day, she will meet State President Kiran Deo, General Secretary (Organisation) Karmveer Singh, and other general secretaries. On the second day, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, both Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, all ministers, MPs, MLAs, divisional and district in-charges, and heads of various party wings will participate.
According to party sources, three major issues will be discussed - first, ground feedback on government schemes, second, ending factionalism within the organization, and third, micro-planning for the 2028 elections. It is believed that after this visit, new district presidents may be appointed in several districts.
4. Amit Shah's Rajyotsav Visit - Strong Message on Development
On November 1, Chhattisgarh will celebrate its 26th Foundation Day, known as Rajyotsav. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be the chief guest at the main function in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar.
In the last two years, Chhattisgarh has achieved major success against Left Wing Extremism. The central government has set a target of a Naxal-free India by 2026. In this context, Amit Shah is expected to appreciate the security forces of Chhattisgarh from this platform and may announce several new development projects. He may also review schemes like the Export Policy and the revamping of ITIs.
What is the Political Significance?
These four visits will have a direct impact on the 2028 elections. The President's visit will help the BJP connect with the tribal vote, Bhagwat's visit will strengthen the ideological base and organization, Smriti Irani will bring the organization into election mode, and Amit Shah will endorse the achievements of the state government.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Charan Das Mahant has written a letter to the Chief Minister regarding increasing the duration of the Assembly session, which shows that the opposition is also trying to keep its issues alive during these visits.
