Revanth Reddy Leads Telangana Congress Mobilisation for Delhi INDIA Bloc Rally: 8,000 Workers Expected to Participate in 'Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao' Protest

The demonstration brought together prominent opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Hemant Soren and representatives of other INDIA bloc parties.
Revanth Reddy's participation was significant for Telangana Congress, as the state leadership undertook a large-scale mobilisation exercise to bring party workers and public representatives to the national capital.
Revanth Reddy Questions the SIR Process
Revanth Reddy has repeatedly criticised the Special Intensive Revision process, raising concerns about its possible impact on eligible voters.
Telangana Congress Sets a Target of 15,000 Participants
The Telangana Congress leadership initially planned to mobilise approximately 15,000 party leaders and workers for the Delhi rally.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed party representatives to coordinate the mobilisation across districts and constituencies. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, state ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs and district-level Congress leaders were involved in the preparations.
However, the mobilisation plans faced logistical challenges after South Central Railway declined the party's request for special trains.
Following the railway's decision, the Congress leadership revised its expected participation figure to approximately 6,000 to 8,000 workers, according to reports published before the rally.
Around 150 Sleeper Buses Arranged to Transport Congress Workers
With the special-train arrangement unavailable, the Telangana Congress reportedly organised approximately 150 sleeper buses to transport party workers to Delhi.
The buses were arranged from different districts and constituencies across Telangana. Workers began their journeys on Thursday and Friday, with the travel plan designed to bring them to Delhi before the November 1 demonstration.
The reported road journey included several stages:
- Telangana to Adilabad.
- Adilabad to Nagpur for an overnight halt.
- Nagpur towards Agra on Saturday.
- Agra to Delhi, with arrival expected by Saturday night.
Some reports also mentioned a different bus count, indicating that the exact number of vehicles used may have changed during the arrangements.
Ministers, MPs and Senior Leaders Travel by Flights and Regular Trains
Apart from the workers travelling by sleeper buses, senior Congress leaders and elected representatives made separate travel arrangements.
According to pre-rally reports, ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs and other senior representatives were expected to travel through flights and regular trains.
Some reports estimated that nearly 5,000 public representatives and senior leaders had made flight arrangements. Other party representatives opted for regular railway services and private vehicles.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud were among the prominent Telangana Congress leaders associated with the Delhi mobilisation.
Why Did the Special Train Plan Face Problems?
The Telangana Congress initially wanted to transport a large number of workers through special trains. However, South Central Railway reportedly declined the request, citing insufficient advance notice and operational difficulties.
The party objected to the decision and Congress leaders staged a protest at the railway headquarters in Secunderabad.
Railway authorities maintained that arranging special trains requires advance planning, including the availability of coaches, locomotives, staff and coordination across railway zones.
The disagreement became an additional political issue ahead of the INDIA bloc demonstration, forcing the Telangana Congress to depend more heavily on road and other transport arrangements.
INDIA Bloc's Major Demands Against the SIR Exercise
The November 1 rally was organised around the opposition's campaign to protect voting rights and demand greater transparency in electoral processes.
The Congress and its INDIA bloc partners raised several demands, including:
- Greater transparency in the Special Intensive Revision process.
- Protection of eligible voters from wrongful deletion.
- Accountability from the Election Commission.
- Action over alleged electoral irregularities.
- Resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gynesh Kaumar.
Conclusion
The November 1 INDIA bloc rally in Delhi brought electoral transparency and voting rights into the centre of the national political debate. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's participation and the mobilisation of thousands of Congress workers from Telangana added an important state-level dimension to the demonstration.
Despite difficulties in arranging special trains, the Telangana Congress reportedly turned to sleeper buses, flights and regular railway services to organise participation.
The actual number of people who attended, the response from the Election Commission and the political developments following the rally will determine the next stage of this debate.
