PM Modi Begins Two-Day Gujarat Visit: Releases ₹19,000 Crore PM-KISAN Instalment, Launches Projects Worth ₹14,000 Crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his two-day visit to Gujarat on Friday, October 30, 2026, with a series of development programmes, public engagements and farmer-focused initiatives. A major highlight of the visit is the release of the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, amounting to approximately ₹19,000 crore.
The Prime Minister held a roadshow in Bhildi in Banaskantha district after arriving in Gujarat. He was accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi. People gathered along the route to welcome him.
During the visit, Modi is inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹14,000 crore in Banaskantha. The initiatives cover infrastructure, agriculture, dairy development, railway connectivity and public facilities.
₹19,000 Crore Released Under PM-KISAN
Farmers are a major focus of the Prime Minister's programme. Modi released the 24th instalment of PM-KISAN, transferring financial assistance worth approximately ₹19,000 crore to around 9.34 crore eligible farmer beneficiaries across the country.
The PM-KISAN scheme provides eligible landholding farmer families with annual financial assistance of ₹6,000, paid in three instalments of ₹2,000 each, subject to the scheme's eligibility conditions.
The latest transfer is intended to provide continued financial support to farmers and help meet agricultural and household expenses.
Development Projects Worth Over ₹14,000 Crore
In Banaskantha, the Prime Minister is dedicating and launching several projects intended to strengthen regional infrastructure and agricultural development.
One of the major initiatives is the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre at Bhildi. Spread across 127 acres, the facility is designed to strengthen cattle breeding, genetic improvement and advanced reproductive technologies. It will focus particularly on the Kankrej cattle breed.
The Prime Minister is also laying the foundation stones for two Bio-CNG plants of Banas Dairy at Tharad and Radhanpur. The facilities will process cattle dung and support the production of cleaner energy.
Ahmedabad Metro and Road Connectivity
The visit also includes major transport infrastructure announcements. Modi is laying the foundation stones for Ahmedabad Metro Phase-2A, covering the airport extension, and Phase-2B, connecting GIFT City with Shahpur.
The two extensions are expected to improve connectivity for commuters travelling to the airport and the GIFT City area.
Another major project is the proposed expansion of Ahmedabad-Mehsana Road, or State Highway-41, from four lanes to eight lanes. The project is estimated to cost around ₹2,600 crore and is expected to improve connectivity between Ahmedabad and North Gujarat.
Two New Train Services to Improve Connectivity
The Prime Minister is also flagging off two railway services: the Ahmedabad (Sabarmati)-Varanasi Express and the Mehsana-Becharaji-Sabarmati MEMU service.
The new services are intended to strengthen passenger connectivity and improve transport links between important destinations in Gujarat and other parts of the country.
Agriculture Infrastructure and Horticulture Development
Agriculture remains another important component of the visit. Modi is dedicating 521 completed projects under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, involving a total project cost of approximately ₹4,950 crore.
These projects include cold storage facilities, warehouses, cold chains, silos, polyhouses, greenhouses and food-processing infrastructure.
The Prime Minister will also mark the beginning of on-ground activities under 12 approved horticulture clusters covering approximately 1.46 lakh hectares. The clusters are expected to benefit more than 1.3 lakh farmers, with two clusters in North Gujarat focusing on potato production.
Bharat Parv and Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Celebrations
Following his Banaskantha engagements, Modi is travelling to Ekta Nagar in Kevadia, where he will inaugurate Bharat Parv 2026 and participate in events celebrating India's cultural diversity and national unity.
On October 31, he is scheduled to pay floral tributes at the Statue of Unity and participate in Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations marking the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The programme will also include the inauguration and foundation-laying of development projects worth more than ₹400 crore in Ekta Nagar, covering tourism, water management, public infrastructure and visitor facilities.
Political and Economic Significance of the Visit
The two-day visit combines national farmer assistance with major infrastructure and regional development announcements. The PM-KISAN transfer is expected to reach millions of eligible farmers, while the projects in Gujarat focus on transport, dairy production, agricultural infrastructure and tourism.
