The Delhi Police Crime Branch has summoned Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka and Ajinkya Shinde for questioning on October 22, 2026, in connection with cases related to protests at Jantar Mantar. On October 21, a Special Executive Magistrate’s court at Mandir Marg ordered the release of CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka from judicial custody after they furnished personal and surety bonds of ₹50,000 and submitted written undertakings to maintain peace and comply with the law.
The court directed the two leaders not to call for protests at Jantar Mantar until the site is denotified in accordance with the law. It also stated that any future demonstrations must remain within the constitutional framework.
The Crime Branch’s summons marks another development in the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the protests. The questioning is expected to form part of the police investigation into the cases connected with the demonstrations.
The case has brought renewed attention to the legal conditions governing public protests in the national capital, including compliance with police directions and the constitutional right to peaceful assembly.
Further developments will depend on the outcome of the questioning and the progress of the police investigation.
