Bengaluru–Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Likely to Launch in November 2026: Route and Travel Time

The Bengaluru–Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Express is likely to be launched in November 2026, offering passengers a new overnight rail travel option between Karnataka and Maharashtra, according to a report by The Indian Express published on October 22.
The train will be the second Vande Bharat Sleeper service in India. The first service, connecting Howrah and Kamakhya near Guwahati, was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2026, according to the report.
A senior railway official told The Indian Express that the Bengaluru–Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Mumbai, service is expected to begin next month, with the inaugural journey originating in Bengaluru.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had announced the planned Bengaluru–Mumbai sleeper service in May, highlighting efforts to improve connectivity between two major metropolitan centres.
The proposed train is expected to bring travel time between Bengaluru and Mumbai down to less than 20 hours. The service could benefit business travellers, professionals, tourists and passengers travelling between the two cities for personal reasons.
The Vande Bharat Sleeper trains are designed for overnight journeys, combining modern train technology with sleeper accommodation. The new service is expected to strengthen long-distance rail connectivity and offer passengers another option for travelling between southern and western India.
However, the final launch date, detailed route, intermediate stops, timetable and ticket fares should be confirmed through official Indian Railways announcements.
The proposed Bengaluru–Mumbai service marks another development in India's efforts to modernise passenger rail services and improve long-distance travel convenience.
