Law and Order Under Fire in Andhra Pradesh: YS Jagan Slams Coalition Government After Brutal Attack on Schoolgirl

Andhra Pradesh has witnessed widespread shock and concern following a horrifying attack on a Class 10 girl student inside a government school in Raptadu mandal of Anantapur district. The incident has once again raised serious questions about the safety of students, particularly girls, in educational institutions.
According to initial reports, a young man entered the government school premises on Saturday morning and attacked a tenth-grade student inside her classroom using an electric saw. The girl suffered severe injuries. Another student who reportedly attempted to intervene was also injured. The victims were immediately shifted to hospital for medical treatment.
The incident has created fear among students, parents and teachers. A school, which should be a safe environment for children to learn and build their future, became the scene of a horrifying attack.
YS Jagan strongly criticises the coalition government
Responding to the incident, YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy strongly condemned the attack and criticised the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government over the state's law-and-order situation.
Jagan questioned how an outsider could enter a government school carrying a dangerous weapon and attack a student inside a classroom. He described the incident as extremely disturbing and argued that the safety of girls and students was not receiving adequate attention.
He alleged that law and order had completely deteriorated under the present coalition administration and claimed that incidents involving violence and attacks were increasing across the state.
Questions over security in government schools
The Raptadu incident has brought school security arrangements into the spotlight. Parents naturally expect schools to provide a protected environment where children can study without fear.
However, the entry of an armed attacker into a classroom raises several important questions:
- How was the attacker able to enter the school premises?
- Were proper security arrangements in place?
- Was there adequate monitoring of visitors entering the school?
- Could the incident have been prevented through better security measures?
Government response and police action
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed serious concern over the incident and sought information about the injured student's condition. He reportedly directed officials to ensure appropriate medical treatment and strict action against the accused.
Education Minister Nara Lokesh also expressed shock and anguish over the attack, stressing that those responsible must face strict punishment.
Conclusion: Student safety must come before politics
The Raptadu school attack is not merely another crime story. It is a serious reminder that educational institutions must remain safe spaces for every child.
A child's right to education must always come with the right to safety.
