Irrigation Water

Telangana BJP leaders planned a visit to the Priyadarshini Jurala Project amid protests over irrigation water, with BJP state president N Ramchander Rao seeking water releases and coordination with Karnataka to address farmers’ concerns.

Karnataka Minister S.S. Mallikarjun has sparked a political controversy after a video purportedly showed him making derogatory remarks against BJP MLA B.P. Harish during a discussion with farmers over Bhadra reservoir water. The BJP has condemned the remarks, with B.Y. Vijayendra backing Harish, intensifying the ongoing Congress-BJP political confrontation in Karnataka.

Karnataka is considering a Supreme Court challenge against the direction to release 6,000 cusecs of Cauvery water daily to Tamil Nadu for 15 days, amid concerns over reservoir levels, rainfall and the state's own drinking-water and irrigation needs.
