Madhya Pradesh Assembly Special Session Focuses on Women’s Empowerment and Reservation

The Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly is holding a special one-day session on September 16, 2026, with the proceedings focused on women’s empowerment and development. The session has brought the issue of women’s representation in elected bodies into focus.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is scheduled to present a resolution in the Assembly seeking the implementation of one-third reservation for women in Parliament and all state legislative assemblies after completion of the delimitation process.
The discussion places women’s political representation at the centre of the Assembly’s proceedings. The proposed reservation has implications for the future composition of legislative bodies and could become an important issue in national and state-level political discussions.
The special session also provides an opportunity for legislators to discuss measures related to women’s development and participation in public life. The government’s focus on the issue comes as debates over representation, electoral boundaries and women’s participation continue across Indian Politics.
