DK Shivakumar completes 100 days as CM

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has completed 100 days in office, marking a significant milestone for the Congress-led state government. Shivakumar assumed charge as Chief Minister on June 3, 2026, succeeding Siddaramaiah. The government is marking the occasion with a special programme at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on September 10.

The programme, titled “Dhruda Karnataka Sankalpa – Shatakada Patha, Pragatiya Ratha” (Resolve for a Strong Karnataka – Path of a Century, Chariot of Progress), is being held to highlight the government’s initiatives and its priorities for the coming months. Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is inaugurating the event, while Chief Minister Shivakumar is presiding over the programme.

A key focus of the programme is the government’s five major guarantee schemes — Anna Bhagya, Gruha Lakshmi, Shakti, Yuva Nidhi and Gruha Jyothi. Beneficiaries of these schemes, along with farmers, workers, auto-rickshaw drivers, gig workers, street vendors, ASHA workers, anganwadi workers and sanitation workers, are participating in the event. Shivakumar is expected to interact directly with beneficiaries and discuss the impact of the welfare programmes.

During the first 100 days, the government has also announced several new initiatives focusing on employment generation, housing, agriculture and public welfare. Among the recent Cabinet decisions is the Udyoga Nidhi scheme, under which eligible industries creating new employment in 10 identified backward districts will receive an incentive of ₹2,500 per new job per month for 24 months.

The Cabinet has also approved a plan to provide 50,000 residential sites in every district, while another initiative, the Chief Minister Negila Yogi scheme, aims to support small and marginal farmers by providing mechanised land-ploughing services to help bring unused agricultural land back under cultivation.

The Shivakumar government has additionally placed emphasis on citizen services, infrastructure development and youth empowerment. The administration has introduced the Praja Seva Department to strengthen grievance redressal and improve the delivery of government services. The government has also announced plans to establish Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghas as part of its youth-focused initiatives.
