Sachin Pilot’s criticism adds to the political debate surrounding electoral-roll revisions in Goa ahead of the 2027 Assembly election. The central issue is whether eligible voters are accurately represented in the final rolls, while allegations of deliberate deletions remain disputed and subject to official verification.

The Goa voter-roll controversy has focused attention on 97 voters who were found eligible but were left out of the final roll during the SIR process. The Goa CEO later said many of the cases had been enrolled separately through Form 6, while the remaining cases were being processed, as opposition parties and the state government continued to present different views on the wider voter-roll issue.

A controversy over 97 Goa voters found eligible after the Special Intensive Revision has intensified after an Indian Express investigation reported that repeated requests for a rollback facility were not acted upon before the final electoral roll was published. While senior GFP member Prashant Naik has called for consideration of Congress's offer for broader opposition coordination, GFP president Vijai Sardesai has said the party continues to stand by the “Goa First” alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and that no decision has been taken to change it.

Congress and Revolutionary Goans have reached an in-principle understanding to work together for the 2027 Goa Assembly election, but the proposed alliance remains subject to several conditions. The discussions cover Goan identity, land and natural resources, political defections, employment, governance and environmental issues.

Political preparations for the 2027 Goa Assembly election have intensified with the Aam Aadmi Party and Goa Forward Party announcing their ‘Goa First’ alliance.
